Lee joined Grant Thornton in 2018 as a Director in our Tax department. He has over 12 years’ experience in advising businesses on a wide range of VAT and other indirect tax issues, including on customs and excise duties and stamp taxes. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Lee led the VAT and indirect tax practice of an international law firm in London.
He also has extensive experience of advising on disputes with HMRC, including litigation before the First-tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, Court of Appeal and UK Supreme Court, as well as more informal methods of dispute resolution.
A recent focus has been advising clients on the implications of Brexit for the VAT and customs treatment of their cross-border trade, where he is ideally placed to provide insight from both a UK and Irish perspective.
Lee has acted for businesses in a wide variety of sectors, including real estate and construction, financial services, manufacturing, media and technology, pharmaceuticals, consumer products and retail, as well as charities, public bodies and not-for-profits. His clients have included owner-managed businesses and SMEs, as well as large companies, multi-nationals and institutional investors.
