Experience
Liam joined Grant Thornton in 2020, having previously spent 8 years in a Big 4 firm. He started out in a Corporate Tax Consultancy role and has since spent the majority of his career specialising in Tax Reliefs and Incentives. Liam now heads his own specialist team in this area at Grant Thornton, and continues to serve a wide range of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and multinational clients.
Sector experience
Liam has experience in preparing R&D claims in all industries, with a particular focus on the local Northern Ireland market and core industries such as manufacturing, construction, agri-food and software.
He has a prepared Capital Allowances claims across all types of properties, such as hotels, offices, retail parks and industrial units. He has prepared these claims both on a live basis during construction, as well as preparing historical reviews of client portfolios.
Liam has also prepared claims across a number of sectors, under both the original Patent Box regime and the new ‘Nexus’ rules. He has experience in preparing more traditional ‘product’ patent claims, as well as calculating the notional royalty required to claim for a process patent.
