Grant Thornton has been announced as the new official sponsor of Queen’s University Belfast Rugby Football Club men’s and ladies’ teams.
The leading business advisory firm has agreed a deal with the club that will see its name carried on the team’s playing jerseys.
Richard Gillan, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Northern Ireland, said:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Queen’s University in support of its men’s and ladies’ rugby teams, and we wish them well for the season ahead. The sponsorship is particularly apt as the values of the club are very much aligned to our own.
“Sport is not just a great spectacle to watch, and a way for those that participate to remain physically healthy. It also teaches teamwork, collaboration and resilience, and these are the qualities we seek in our new graduate recruits.
“Today’s students are, of course, tomorrow’s leaders, whether in business, education, science, public life or beyond. Through this collaboration, we look forward to meeting many of them in the months and years ahead.”
David Chambers, QUB RFC added:
“The support of our corporate partners is vital to the continued success of our club both on and off the pitch.
“We are therefore delighted to welcome Grant Thornton as the new official sponsors of both our men’s and ladies’ first teams.
“Their contribution makes a significant impact not only on our club, but the entire university and student body.”
Founded in 1869, QUB RFC is one of the world’s oldest rugby clubs. The men’s first team, which currently plays in the All-Ireland League has won the Ulster Senior Cup a record 23 times.
The women’s team competes in the Ulster Women’s Premiership and is the current Ulster Junior Cup champions.
